The 1952 Africa Foundation, in partnership with the HOW Foundation, is proud to announce the highly anticipated shortlist for the inaugural Chizi Wigwe Prize for African Futurism. This prestigious $15,000 award celebrates African artists and creatives who are boldly envisioning the continent’s future through innovative artistic expressions.
The prize, named in honor of the late Chizi Wigwe, a passionate advocate for African cultural advancement and former board member of the 1952 Africa Foundation, sought submissions under the compelling theme “Africa in 2100.” Artists across various disciplines were invited to explore how cultural heritage, technology, and imagination will shape African societies, innovation, and its role in addressing global challenges.
The rigorous selection process has culminated in a diverse and inspiring shortlist, showcasing the incredible talent and visionary thinking within the African creative landscape.
